Device groups, devices without an agent and lifecycle

Track printers and switches beside your agents, save device filters as groups, and plan replacements from warranty and end-of-life dates.

Revo keeps one record per device, whatever found it: RevoAgent, the firewall collector, or you.

Devices without an agent

Printers, switches, access points, phones, cameras and anything else worth tracking can be added by hand. On Devices, under the agent list, choose Add device in Devices without an agent. Give it a name and a kind; the hostname, IP and MAC address, manufacturer, model and serial number are optional. You can also import a list: Settings → Import and export → Devices without an agent.

Click a device to open its quick look: details, lifecycle dates, tags, custom fields, and notes and files. A note or file marked Show in the customer portal appears on the customer's own Devices page in the portal. Files are up to 10 MB and are always downloaded, never opened in the browser.

Device groups

A group is a saved filter: by kind, how the device was found, operating system, tags, name, when it last checked in, warranty state or custom fields. Every condition you set must match. Open Devices → Device groups and choose New group; the dialog shows how many devices match as you go.

A group can cover every customer, or only one (create it while a customer is selected). RevoRMM can run a script on a group's devices, and RevoPSA can bill per device in a group.

Lifecycle

Devices → Lifecycle lists devices whose warranty ends, or that reach end of life, within the next 3 to 36 months, per customer, with what has already expired. Export it to plan and quote replacements.

Set the dates on each device (Edit under Lifecycle), import them, or connect warranty lookups:

  1. Get API keys from the manufacturer: Dell TechDirect, Lenovo's support API or HP's warranty API.
  2. Enter them in Settings → Warranty lookups.
  3. Revo looks up devices with a serial number once a month, and whenever you choose Look up on a device. A date you typed in yourself is never overwritten.

To hear about warranties ending, turn on Warranty ending soon in your notifications. Settings → Warranty lookups sets how many days ahead (30 unless you change it).
